廊的设计在园林景观建筑中可将各个景点连接起来，以此可更有层次的展示园林景观，且不同功能、不同造型的廊，会展示出不同的视觉效果，在园林游览过程中可带给人们以较强的空间感。如此一来，可实现人们生活和自然的有机结合，增加园林本身所具有的灵性。同时，廊的设计可更好地使用建筑材料，设可添加自然元素，在装饰廊建筑时可充分利用藤蔓植物，以此可增加建筑外观的可观性，外表的葱葱郁郁也能够成为吸引游客的点，使其对自然景色进行充分感受，且藤蔓植物的存在可为游客提供纳凉的场所[5]。另外，廊建筑的存在有助于景观观赏度的显著提高，吸引游客在园林中长时间的停留，以此能够充分观赏园林景观。

在园林景观中多会有河流的存在，以此有助于空气的湿润与气候的调节，若人们想靠近河流，呼吸新鲜的空气，充分的感受大自然，就需要将一座桥梁架设在河流上，以此让人们在欣赏美景的同时充分感受新鲜的空气，且能够对园林景观的美景进行有效的渲染。在一些规模较小的园林中，桥设计以河流水面景观为主，旨在促进园林景观占地面积的有效扩充、促进景观层次性的显著增加。有桥水体的存在有助于水面空间层次感的增加，能够将水面的幽深、悠远充分体现出现[6]。因此在设计规模较小的园林桥时，主要采用的是拱桥，其具有精巧、质朴性，能够与河流水面主动接近，确保游客在欣赏景观时能够和谐的与大自然共处。而大型园林桥式园林景观的标志性建筑，需要呼应周围自然景观，将人为景观艺术充分发挥出来，多将桥设置在悬崖上方，然后采用腾空架起的方式，从而能够将陡峭的山峰与广阔的河流充分衬托出来。
